How long will the increase in shipping costs last? (June - early July)

Recently, sea freight continues to soar, "one cabin is difficult to find" again. Near June, a number of shipping companies announced that they would open a new round of price increases. What will happen to freight rates next? Our international trade expert Icy Liu analyzes the latest trends.

01【China-latin America】
Freight rate trend: Up
Space availability: tight
Since the beginning of April, the freight rate of the Latin American route has been raised weekly, and the current increase is 2000-3000 US dollars /40HQ, which is relatively high. From the perspective of supply and demand, freight rates are expected to maintain an upward trend in June.
The good news is that MSC, CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping and Orient Overseas have successively opened new routes to Mexico, which is expected to alleviate the shortage of space supply. But every year July-September is the traditional peak season of the Latin American market, will it continue this year? The market was uncertain throughout July.

02【China - North America】
Freight rate trend: Up
Space availability: tight
Since May, the US freight rate has been raised three times in a row. Affected by the tight market capacity, a new round of price increases is expected in mid-June.
At present, the booking of the American line has been to the second half of June, and the space is tight in June. For the trend of freight rates in July, stay on the sidelines, and in the short term, market freight rates will not be significantly reduced.

03【China - Europe】
Freight rate trend: Up
Space availability: tight
In late May, shipments rose rapidly and market demand was at a high level, which was compounded by a large number of container shortages and container dumping caused by the Red Sea detour in April and May, directly affecting the supply of shipping space in early June.
At present, in late May, the market is slightly panicking and stocking up on the June-July European lines. But with the arrival of the summer holiday season in Europe, the situation may be alleviated.
